The season-opener in Bahrain truly was a nail-biter, but the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was an entertaining spectacle in all aspects with quite some action occurring before the race even began. Rain played the variable on a chilly Sunday evening, conditions Max Verstappen tends to excel in. He didn’t disappoint as he took a dominant win over Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris, who also put in valiant performances under tricky conditions.
Here are all the numbers from the 2021 Emilia Romagna GP –

- The ‘Pirelli Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia Romagna Grand Prix‘ might look like the longest official name for a Formula 1 race, but the first-ever championship race in 1950 had a longer one – ‘The Royal Automobile Club Grand Prix d’Europe Incorporating The British Grand Prix‘.
- With Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris finishing second and third respectively at Imola, it’s the first time two British drivers have shared the podium since China 2012.
- Sunday also marked the 700th podium for the United Kingdom, 167 of which belong to Hamilton.
- Red Bull, Mercedes and McLaren last stood on the podium together in Britain 2010. Even in that race, Lewis Hamilton finished second behind a Red Bull driver.
