F1 News: Mclaren’s Urgent Need For Funds, F1’s Chequered Flag Charity Initiative, F1 TV’s New Graphics

F1 2020 Mclaren News

There was a news update about Alessandro Zanardi’s condition earlier today. The Italian remains in induced coma. However, in the build up to the 2020 Formula 1 season and for our F1 news round-up, we’ve launched our own countdown on Instagram. You are welcome to give us a follow whilst catching up on the latest F1 news!

The other F1 news that made headlines were Mclaren’s urgent need for cash, Formula 1 finally announcing the new TV graphics that will debut in 2020, Hugh Jackman’s possible portrayal of Enzo Ferrari and F1’s new ‘We Race As One’ initiative. And of course, you can partner with Formula 1 with their Chequered Flag Initiative.

Mclaren Takes Legal Action In Refinancing Battle (Autosport)

McLaren’s arguments in favour of a speedy resolution indicate just how urgent the need is for new financing.

It noted that “whilst the Group has sufficient liquidity to meet its obligations as and when they fall due in the very short term, further liquidity is required to be made available by no later than 17 July 2020”, and that “additional liquidity of approximately £280 million would be sufficient for the Group to be able to support its operations into 2021”.

F1 Set To Debut New TV Graphics In 2020 (Formula 1)

Fans watching as the 2020 season kicks off at the Red Bull Ring will get to see the brand new ‘Car Performance Scores’ graphic, comparing different cars’ performance throughout the lap in real time, based on low-speed cornering, high-speed cornering, straight line performance and car handling.

That data is gathered from the 300 sensors on each F1 car, which generate over a million data points per second that are relayed back to the pits.

Hugh Jackman In Talks To Play Enzo Ferrari In New Movie (Formula 1)

The film, tentatively titled simply Enzo Ferrari and set to be helmed by Ali and Heat director Michael Mann, will reportedly centre around Ferrari in 1957, a tumultuous year which saw the Italian company skating financial disaster, while its founder came under attack from the Vatican after a horrendous crash involving one of his cars at that year’s Mille Miglia road race. It was also the year after Ferrari had lost his son, Dino, to muscular dystrophy at the age of 24.

Formula 1 Launches #WeRaceAsOne Initiative To Fight Challenges Of COVID-19 And Global Inequality (Formula 1)

That is why today, ahead of our season start, Formula 1 announces our new #We Race As One initiative, in support of the #PurposeDriven Movement launched by the FIA last week. This initiative will be the platform for the priorities set out above and is aimed at tackling the biggest issues facing our sport and global communities. It will not be a one week or one-year theme that disappears as issues disappear from headlines, it will underpin the Formula 1 strategy to make a tangible difference in our sport and society.

F1 Will Sell Squares On Chequered Flag For Charity

In support of F1’s new ‘We Race as One’ initiative announced earlier this week to combat racism and inequality, fans will have a unique opportunity to purchase spots on the chequered flag shown at the end of each race.

The charity drive is set to raise over £11,000 per race, with 56 of the 80 squares on the chequered flag going up for sale. The remaining 24 squares will be made available to the race promoter to pass on to its fans and guests.
